Then there's things like 1-900-BLOCKER. well while one may quibble with the point somewhat (honey notwithstanding) i think you're indulging in semantic sleight of hand. you've may select the carrier but you still don't exert explicit control over the route you just get to pick a couple of branch points. in any case paper mail is a better analogue. you do have an unambiguous address and you can use it, in paris texas or paris france. (not to imply that texas and france enjoy comparable levels of sovereignty.)
