Message-ID: <1990Jul18.165010.2382@vax1.sara.nl> Date: 18 Jul 90 15:50:07 GMT Organization: SARA, Academic Computing Services Amsterdam (NL) Lines: 20 I don't know exactly if this is the right newsgroup to direct my question. We have apoor, old, overloaded VAX 11/785 which we would like to replace by a shining new VAX from the 6000 series. There is however one problem. We have a connection to LCN (Loosely Coupled Network, a CDC network) through a DMAC interface. CDC does noet have a BI interface to replace the DMAC. A solution would be to attach a Unibus to the BI bus and use this for the DMAC. Now I have heard rumours that CDC does not support this configuration. Up till now I have not been able to get a denial nor confirmation from our local CDC contact. I have two questions: 1 What are the experiences with a Unibus connected to a BI bus in a VAX 6000 series computer? 2 Does anyone know of a situation where a DMAC interface is used as described above?
