I also have SUM II, and have used it to optimize my HD. For some reason it would never fully optomize he drive, it would go through about half of the drive (Apple HD40) and then quit telling me that it was finished. When I used MacTools to do the disk optimization I it told me that there was a problem, and what the causes might be. It also instructed me to use Rescue to repair the drive. I did this and found that there were two files that were marked as using the same block. To make a long story short, I fixed the drive, and the optimizer worked like a charm. It even put all of the applications together, and then the doc files.
