The best way that I can think of to do this in FileMaker is to select
"Columnar Report Layout" in the Dialog box that comes up when you create a new
layout.  Then you will have a whole lot of records stacked horizontally,
sorted however you want.  Then you could do something like Author's last
name/first name/title/date/item type (f for fiction, etc.) across the page.
