I don't know why yet. We don't have a IIfx here that I can use for testing (yet), so it's going to be difficult for me to figure this one out. I'm not doing anything at all strange - just using the new 6.0.2 Sound Manager to asynchronously play a sequence of notes and rests in the standard vanilla fashion. It works fine on the SE, II, IIx, IIcx, and IIci. It only screws up on the IIfx. Strange. Anybody out there know anything special about the Sound Manager on the IIfx?
