Message-ID: <26247@pasteur.Berkeley.EDU> Date: 16 Jul 90 20:49:46 GMT Sender: news@pasteur.Berkeley.EDU Reply-To: munson@fir.Berkeley.EDU (Ethan V. Munson) Distribution: usa Organization: University of California at Berkeley Lines: 17 X-Local-Date: 16 Jul 90 13:49:46 PDT Symptom: Sometimes, for the first half hour or so that my Mac Plus runs, the video image is unstable. That is, its size varies as if the machine is losing power. I think the power from the wall outlet is stable. My fear: I seem to remember that this is a sign of impending doom for the computer's power supply. I also remember that this is a case where the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" philosophy fails. Letting the power supply fail might damage many other components, that would otherwise be safe. My question: Is my memory correct? Should I be hustling my computer to the nearest repair shop to get a new power supply? Ethan Munson munson@yew.Berkeley.EDU ...ucbvax!yew!munson
