My question is this: What are "sumex" and "apple.com"? I have never seen a definition of them, but from the context of various notes, it appears that they are machines from which system software updates, shareware and/or public domain software is available. Is this accurate? If so, how do I access them? I have tried to ftp to "apple.com", both by its name and its IP address 130.43.2.2. The result is: ftp: connect: Connection timed out When I try "sumex-aim.stanford.edu", I get: ftp: sumex-aim.stanford.edu: Unknown host Is the error caused by something I am doing wrong, or because something needs to be set up differently on my system, or what? And finally, I have also heard mention of something called "simtel" (I think that's the name). Is this a similar service? Thanks.
