Sofka INTERNET: mike@pubserv.com We have the Megatape GT/88-1, which Alliant also OEM's. It has a Pertec interface which lets it imitate a 1/2" reel tape drive, which is pleasantly already supported by just about everyone. I've been using it (currently connected to our Alliant) for all of our backups (including one Sequent B8 and one S81) since last October with no problems in either backups or restores. I am planning on moving our 8mm drive to one of our Sequent machines very soon, so should be able to verify this myself. Our largest single file system is on one entire Eagle disk drive (355 Mb). Perhaps dumping those new 1 Gb drives (Fujitsu M2382K) cause problems with some block counters in /etc/dump when the entire thing is dumped to one tape.
