In any case, the DDX conversion work is not yet complete, so nothing is likely to happen particularly soon. Remember that many(/most(?)) of the performance gains in R4 are already in our servers. All our DIX performance work was given back to MIT, and became part of R4 (along with large amounts of work at MIT, particularly to save memory; I don't mean to minimize the work done at MIT). I don't believe you'll be unhappy with what you have now for the server. About the only thing that won't work are applications that depend on the SHAPE extension. - Jim Gettys
