Summary: Are there? Keywords: CLX Xlib OPEN-DISPLAY XOpenDisplay Message-ID: <760@bbking.KSP.Unisys.COM> Date: 16 Jul 90 16:46:28 GMT Organization: Unisys/Knowledge Systems Projects, Malvern, PA Lines: 21 References: Does anyone know if there are protocol differences between CLX and XLIB clients? I assume that the packets sent from a client to the server are supposed to be identical, and it shouldn't matter if the client is written using CLX or Xlib. However, one of our servers will run Xlib-based clients, but not CLX-based clients. We know that it's not a problem with allowing a connection from a certian host, because we can run xterms and xclocks from that host, but not CLX applications. The CLX client hangs in OPEN-DISPLAY, which is supposed to be similar to Xlib's XOpenDisplay, which works fine. Since this happens on only one server, I suspect the server. However, I still wonder if there are subtle differences in what the two send to the server, or if there are differences such as packet size or defaults. Any e-mail responses appreciated. Brian A.
