I think this point has been made previously in the discussions about audio <4840@crltrx.crl.dec.com> (Jim Gettys) and Input Device Extensions <9006051941.AA01117@sol.uswest.com> (Bob Scheifler). X is not an everything protocol. It may be proper to use the X model and build a larger protocol of which X is the window statndard, 'H' is the audio standard, 'P' is the print interface standard,....
