The thing is, I think ADA is able to happen just the same, because many of us American capitalist not only care about ourselves but about those around us as well. I think, as in many countries, "we the people" should not always be confused with "We the goverment." Ocassionally, when "we the people" speak up together in a loud enough voice, some of the better parts of being an American come more clearly to light, that being us, the everyday people! I know this may be a very simple and idealistic response to your question concerning the development of ADA in such a Capitalist society, but I think it stands true. Keepin' the faith! .
