I know about MAD. What I'm interested in is the strategy in the event of a Soviet invasion using only conventional weapons. To what extent did defense-in-depth play a part. To what extent was the strategy one of preclusive security, the attempt to hold a line in the event of an attack. Will appreciate any help you can give me.
