I recently asked a similar question, and need to follow up, so...

PC Magazine published in the January 1990 issue, an article describing a
program called "PC Remote".  It is available from PCMAGNET (see PC Magazine
for details).  It is apparently written in assembler, and source is provided.
It does what is asked above.  It didn't exactly do what I originally wanted,
so I ended up writing my own, in Turbo C, rather than hassle with downloading
from PC magazine and hacking someone else's code.
