SLIP is some software that runs on unix boxes (and others) that allows someone with a serial connection to become a node on the net. there is a prog called async appletalk that is similar but SLIP works with a host as opposed to another mac and puts you on the ethernet. i'd rather use a shiva ethergate but some people in my shop want to use SLIP. netmodem won't do the job because it's not on ethernet. i welcome any ideas on the subject so please email and i'll post a summary. stel cs_stel@gsbacd.uchicago.edu
