I recently heard some mention of "layers protocol" which I assume to be 
the protocol invented (Rob Pike?) at bell labs to talk to blit terminals.
Is there a proper description of this protocol I can get a hold of?
Any publicly distributable code would be sufficient too. Thnx in adv.
