In a "standard" shar, are all calls to chmod made in the form 'chmod 0755 filename' ^^^^ where the permissions are specified with 4 digits? Reason being, I unpack stuff on a DOS machine, and I'm using ms_sh and the Picnix utils. Picnix chmod expects {-|+|=} {w|r|h|s}, and so fails with a numeric call. The obvious solution is to write my own chmod, but I need to check the standard before I do it. Perhaps someone could mail me a SYSV man page for chmod. Thanks in advance. When it's done, I'll be posting the program, likely to comp.binaries.ibm.pc. -- Roy M.
