If you use JR-Comm on a regular basis, and you're sick of the "screen telling you to register", then register! I use "vi" all the time here on our Sun 3 with the "showmatch" feature enabled. Never had a problem. Make sure you have your terminal type set to vt100, and that you have a good vt100 termcap entry. If you still have problems, play around with the Terminal requester. I think you may have to turn off destructive backspace or something. (although I'm sure showmatch uses cursor positioning and not backspaces.) There's probably some setting which you have wrong on your end or the Unix end. [emacs stuff deleted.
