I had a similar problem and traced it to a "weak" RS-232 driver chip. Try some other midi software first, surprisingly, a weak chip causes some software to break on MIDI, but not all. DMCS worked with the weak chip. Replacing that chip cured all ills. If you are a tech, place scope leads on input and output of RS-232 driver to verify. Terry LaGrone "Mixing audio, video and ideas"\
