I used to deal with ZIM -- even though their prices were list they seemed to know what was going on and had a good, fast tech shop. My Everex EMAC hard drive just died last weekend (sounds like a bad bearing or head crash -- it just growls in four pitches at startup, repeats that a few times, and the fades into the sunset.) I started to call around locally to see how bad retail prices were over mail order and discovered that ZIM now seems to be out of business. (Just for laughs I also called Computerland: the ONLY drive they would dain sell for a GS was the Apple brand -- even though they handle several third party drives for Mac's, he refused to discuss selling them for a GS because they don't support them in that configuration. He did, strangely, suggest mail order!) TMPLee@Dockmaster.ncsc.mil p.s. -- I now have a CMS drive on order from Quality Computers. The price difference was just too much to ignore. While I was at our Washington area office I got much the same story from dealers there and not much better prices, even from a discount shop. (Federal Computers in Frederick would also only sell the Apple drive.)
