We have a flatbed scanner at the comp center here, and it makes nice gray scale scans, storing them in TIFF format, which I would like to be able to use on my 1040. I found some info on TIFF and wrote a very simple viewer, but the TIFF files are generally much bigger than I can display, and with only 7 luminances, I'm losing around half of the gray scale data. Maybe some sort of conversion to Spectrum would be nice, but I imagine this would be no trivial trick.
