I'm looking for an existing communications program which can upload
files doing both flow-control and error-checking by sending one
character and waiting for it to come back.

The application is downloading basic programs to an old Z80 box
that thinks the PC is typing on a terminal. It would be nice to
know if the PC mistypes.
