It took me a while to find it, but here it is. There is a software solution to booting from drive B:. According the the Advisor in PC Magazine April 10, 1990: ..... your software option is B: Boot! ($19.90 plus $2 shipping and handling: YWSoft, P.O. Box 2231, Bloomington, IN 47401; (812) 857-4772). You stick the B:Boot! disk into drive A: and bootable DOS diskette into drive B: and reboot the computer. B:Boot! forces the machine to boot from the B: drvie, and from then on the machine recognizes the two drives as reversed. B:Boot! is the only way to go if your games require that you boot from the game diskette. I have not personnally tried this program.
