Is the NEC Multisync monitor, model JC1401P3A, usable with a VGA card?

If so, can you comment on the cable I would need?  The VGA card has a strange
18-pin female connector and the monitor has a DB9 female.
Is this kind of male "DB18" to male DB9 connector any kind of a standard?
Many thanks to those who can shed some light on this problem.
