Message-ID: <5422@milton.u.washington.edu> Date: 23 Jul 90 23:10:40 GMT References: <1990Jul13.161244.12456@pemstgt.gtc.de> <1346@cdin-1.UUCP> Sender: news@milton.u.washington.edu Organization: University of Washington, Seattle Lines: 15 I thought it would be straightforward. All I wanted to do was use my pc at home as a terminal on a sun or next at work. But when I try to phone in with procomm or qmodem using vt100 emulation, I cannot reliably use VI or Emacs. I've tried the vt-100 termcaps on both machines plus a good vt100 termcap from another machine on the NeXT. The lines on the screen dont match up correctly, and emacs seems totally blown. alot of the ctrl-keys dont seem to work right. (ex: open file then try to quit wioth ctrl-z and it comes back with 'do you want to save' or whatever. It beeps whenever I press most keys, and others generate some sort of 'inapropriate key' sort of message). I have tried it in 8-n-1 and 7-e-1 for the fun of it. Any suggestions? Thanks Mark
