My SE with 20M internal hard disk will almost never boot the first time. I hear an awful chugga-chugga-chugga sound from the hard disk -- quite a few times -- then eventually I get the icon with a floppy and a ? in it. It seems to be some kind of warmup problem. If I let the machine sit there for a couple of minutes, then cycle power, it *always* boots. Once it boots I've experienced *NO* problems. No disk problems of any kind. Has anyone experienced this problem? Is this a symptom of something familiar? Should I take the machine in to be repaired? Will I get any further non-fatal deterioration before the hard disk goes belly-up? I.e. is this the "last warning" before the hard disk is lunched? How serious is this? Since it's been this way for weeks, I guess mebbe I've nonchalanted it a bit. Any words of wisdom appreciated. -- Jim Rosenberg -- cgh!amanue!jr CIS: 71515,124 UUCP: / / | WELL: jer dsi.com pitt! ditka! BIX: jrosenberg Internet: cgh!amanue!jr@dsi.com
