Message-ID: <8871@ubc-cs.UUCP> Date: 25 Jul 90 21:00:51 GMT Sender: news@cs.ubc.ca Distribution: na Organization: Civil Engg. UBC Lines: 19 We have a spare DEC RD54 disk (159 MB) removed from a VAXstation 3200 which I am hoping to use as a second SCSI device with a MacIIx. Since the RD54 (basically an unmodified Maxtor disk) is not a SCSI device, a SCSI/MFM adapter must be used between the Mac and the disk. I have managed to locate that particular component, but still face unresolved questions: 1) What cables do I need (esp. since the Mac has a 25 pin SCSI connector) ? 2) How is the power supply to the disk handled (external or from the Mac itself) ? 3) I will need a SCSI terminator on the disk end. How do I go about finding out if there is a terminator already and if not, how do I put one in there ? Any leads on any of the above queries will be greatly appreciated.
