A lot of people have been mentioning On Location and Fast Find as being good utilities for this... I can't debate this (I haven't seen them to give them a try), but since it hasn't been mentioned yet,... Try 'Gofer', by Microlytics!!! It has many features like wild card & 'close/flexible' searching (some kind of 'best-fit' algorithm) and boolean operators and is also in DA format. It also features both a universal mode, in which it will skim through all files and a document- sensitive mode, in which it will strip out controls from several popular file formats (i.e. you don't get garbage from Word/PageMaker/etc. formatting commands). Multiple folder searches... And so on. Also, I've found it to be fairly fast (though the larger the file....). You can get this in one of two ways: 1) Seperately (~ $50 from your favorite 'Akbar & Jeff's Discount Mail-order Software Shack'-type outlet) 2) Packaged with DiskTop 4.0 (CE Software) (~ $70 from same) Personally, I'd recommend going with the latter. For only twenty dollars more, you get (IMHO) one of the best file utilities available as a DA. Good luck!!! (Additonal Disc.: I don't work for either Microlytics or CE Software. I've just found Disktop & Gofer to be two of the most useful Mac products I've encountered... (again, IMHO)) =============================================================================== | John T.
