The Proteon marketing department would like to provide the readers of
this mailing list/newsgroup with information about new Proteon
products as they are announced.  Rather than arbitrarily start doing
this, the marketing department wants me to ask the readership of the
list (you) for your opinions on this, and what you would want to see.
(They don't want to be seen as excessively commercial or brash in
doing this.  It should be useful support for you.)

The releases that marketing will send will not just be our canned
press releases.  These contain much boiler-plate that you would not be
interested in.  (You already know who Proteon is...)  Instead, they
will be more succinct descriptions of the new product or software
release, focusing on functional features.  They will also focus on
product, other informational press releases won't be sent.

There are several classes of announcements that can be sent:

  1. Internetworking Products (p4100, p4200, ProNET-80, FDDI)

  2. PC LAN products (ProNET-4, ProNET-10)

  3. Network Management Products (OverVIEW, TokenVIEW)

  4. New software releases

I don't know what the areas of interest of the readers of this list
are, so please reply to me DIRECTLY (jas@proteon.com) and let me know
what categories you do and do not want to see.  Since the info-proteon
and p4200 lists have been merged, I suspect there will be interest in
all of them.

Any other comments on announcements are welcome.
