My understanding is that Irix 3.3 has BSD groups. This means that you can be
in several groups at one time. So you define a group for each object you want
to share. 

I assume that group membership is defined in the etc/groups but I don't know
for certain.

We are waiting for 3.3 for this reason (among others).
