The reason that B News eats is because, years ago, some tactless morons began including vt100 escape sequences (reverse video, flash screen, alternate character sets) in their articles. Those on vt100s had their carefully-constructed setups destroyed, while those not on vt100s found their terminals getting unknown sequences and doing anything from completely unexpected things (h19 reaction to X3.64 "esc [" is to go into "no scroll" mode) to locking up entirely. Pick a character other than and you might get somewhere. --karl
