My question is about the Amplified version. One of my parallel Bibles includes the Amplified New Testament (I'm not sure if a corresponding O.T. exists); the distinguishing mark of the Amplified is that it tries to explain the nuances of the original Greek by presenting multiple meanings. I don't have the text with me to give an example, but the text ends up being filled with lots of cases where one word is translated into "A or B or C". What I was wondering is how good this translation is considered to be by Greek scholars (for study purposes, as most would agree it is rather convoluted for devotional readings). -- mike murphy [I've never seen it quoted in scholarly work.
