Mailfasta will read DNA or PROTEIN sequence files (Pearson, DNA strider or plain ASCII format) and sends them to the GenBank or EMBL FASTA mail server where the sequence will be compared to the sequence databases. The results will then be e-mailed back. It's an interactive c-shell script (with a small c-program to check if the file is DNA or PROTEIN. The programs of the package are in a shell archive and uudecoded. To decode do the following : - save this message to a file and strip the lines above the cut line. - type : uudecode - type : sh < mfasta.shar And a directory 'mfasta' will be created with the programs. The programs can be moved to another directory but the program mailfasta must always have access to cid (either via a PATH or same directory).
