You may consider `Disk Manager'.  If partitions are created by DM, you may alter
these partitions to be Read Only or Read/Write by using DM.  However, you'll
need the DM driver in your config.sys, ie. loss a few Kbytes conventional
memory.  Moreover, the boot partition cannot be set to Read Only, since only DM
created partitions can have this capability.
