Lines: 23 Hi, I am new to the world of Oracle and I am having a heck of a time with the Documentation when it comes to the LONG Datatype. I have created a table with the LONG data type (for TEXT data entry), and would like to know how to INSERT new records in with this form. The Docs (for 5.1A at least, will be upgrading as soon as we get the contract :-) ) for LONG give me NO CLUE (at least on the hundreds of pages I have read!) as to how to enter data of this type. Everytime I go over 240 characters it thinks its a CHAR type and says too long. Do I need to use a special quoting or what? After I figure out how to insert >240 characters into field long, I would like to know how to use sqlforms with this SAME field. Right now what I do is LINK records together that contain 78 character fields and just keep a record for EACH line. I want ONE record that contains lots of lines of text. I would appreciate any help, and I thank you greatly in advance. Glenn Ford BBS: 301-972-6131 HOME: 301-972-2310 UUCP: ..uunet!ocsmd!{stsim!}glenn
