Ports 1000-1023 are not restricted, and I am surprised that Hewlett Packard does not have problems interoperating with other TCP/IP products than VM. A more graceful solution to the problem with the current VM code is to reserve ports 1000-1023 using the PORT statement in the PROFILE TCPIP configuration file. This will prevent TCPIP from allocating the ports, and prevent you from having to issue 24 errors to use up those ports.
