SAS Institute Inc., one of the nation's largest privately owned
software companies has the following opening:

               Associate Systems Developer
You will be responsible for developing the SAS/C Global
Optimizer and validating new compiler releases.  Other duties
include analyzing generated code and implementing code generation
optimizations to improve general code quality; implementing new
compiler features; working with C++ preprocessor; supporting code
generators for the Motorola 68000 and 88000 based platforms; and
analyzing compiler performance and implementing improvements to
the technology.  Applicants must have a bachelor's degree in
computer science or related field or equivalent experience; two
years' compiler programming experience for either a RISC or
Motorola-based platform; C programming experience and thorough
knowledge of ANSI; knowledge of global optimization techniques;
ability to work with people of varied technical backgrounds and
handle deadlines in a multiple task environment; and excellent
verbal and written communication skills.  Coursework in compiler
technology is desired (#1425).
