Message-ID: <90211.235901ART100@psuvm.psu.edu> Date: 31 Jul 90 03:59:01 GMT Organization: Penn State University Lines: 13 It was suggested to me that reconfiguring my serial ports might help with the problems I've been having, since apparently the settings get lost after a few years or due to some random events. I'd always thought that the serial port configuration was lost when the power was shut off. Anyway I did as suggested and the only change I made was to change the modem from 300 baud (I'd never changed that since I got the //c, but have been using 1200 and 2400 baud modems anyway) and it apparently did the trick (pending some heavy-use tests). So anyway, are the settings stored permanently somehow? If so, how could they be erased? Excessive heat, brief power loss, voltage fluctuation on the serial lines?
