If I hadn't bought it it would have followed me home... :-) And then very quickly bought a Unidisk 5.25 for it. Remembering from when I had one a few years ago, I started calling around to see about getting the upgrade to the rom so I could use the unidisk (which would just sit there and spin otherwise.) I also wanted someone to make certain that it would work with a third party modem (yes, it is that old...) The first place said that the old MB swap to make it compatible wasn't in effect anymore, the second said sure, bring it on down. We have to ship it over to our shop in Phillidelphia, but it should be back in no time. That was a week and a half ago or so. First the shop called to tell me that they needed the drive sent in as well (and then said that the upgrade wasn't covered when I told them that it was a 5.25, claiming that the //c would support *all* 5.25 Apple // drives!) I asked them about the Modem problem and they at first didn't seem to have any idea what I was talking about, then said that I needed to send them the modem!!! (Which is hooked up the mac at the moment do my roommate can read news.) They claimed that this was all at "Apple's request." I'm about to give up on them. I've found another place (cosiderably further away) that can swap in the MB with the Unidisk roms, for 35$ labor. A fourth place, fairly close by, says that their Apple // expert is out on vacation. Has anyone else gotten a run around like this? What avenues are out there at this point to get an older //c working with the newer stuff? One last, unrelated question. I've noticed that AE advertises their 3.5 inch drive in both Mac and Apple // mags., will it work with both? (Having one of each, this would be nearly ideal, and well worth the extra 50$.)
