From: FRANK MALLORY The one here is v1.04. It consists of TECO.COM only. Gives the * prompt when started up, but I forgot how to operate TECO so couldn't get it to do anything. I finally (I think) got my HST working right, so it can be downloaded or FReqed pretty quick, especially considering it is only about 10KB. - --- msged 1.99L MSC * Origin: Silver Bullet - Silver Spring, Md. - 301-622-2247 ------------------------------ Date: 07-27-90 (07:31) To: GEORGE THEALL Subject: MISC. The original one does prevent the "Interrupts off" crash in most cases, but it hasn't made Cobol 3.0 nor Multiplan 4.2 run without resorting to CB. - --- msged 1.99L MSC * Origin: Silver Bullet - Silver Spring, Md. - 301-622-2247 ------------------------------ Date: 07-27-90 (23:49) To: CHRISTOPHER WROTEN Subject: RE: JUST GOT A RAINBOW! From: DAVID MAROUN I have 7 modules of Peachtree accounting (AR, AP, GL, job cost, inventory control, PeachCalc, and personal calendar). The catch is that I do not have a configuration program for the Rainbow. You can run these programs on a Rainbow, but you need the IBM PC-DOS emulator Code Blue and plenty of memory--unless you can get a configuration program. I am asking $15 per module for the Peachtree accounting package. Let me know if you want any of it. Maximum memory is 896 k. If you have 384 k, you have the DEC auxiliary memory board, and need only add 256 k chips to get more memory. You also have to set some switches on the board. Run CHKDSK under MS-DOS to find out for sure how much memory you have. You can use most printers with a Rainbow. The Rainbow has a serial port for printers and by default uses XON-XOFF control. The most convenient arrangement is to get a printer with a serial port and that kind of control. Panasonic and Epson are two companies that can provide this as an option for around $70 or so. I often use a Tandy printer which has a serial port but does not use XON-XOFF control. In this case, I run the SETPORT utility (available free; you may have copies on your CP/M or MS-DOS system diskettes) to enable the data terminal ready signal. Note that making serial connecticns is sometimes a bit tricky and frustrating. I have had some experience with them, so let me know if I can help. You can also get a serial-to-parallel interface to use a printer with a parallel port (the most common kind these days). One such interface is available around here for $90 Canadian (the last time I checked) and it works well with a Rainbow, but also requires enabling the DTR signal. You can also get a parallel port for a Rainbow as part of a SCSI board, but that is an expensive proposition, and I do not know off-hand of anyone who has tried it. Hope this helps! - --- Opus-CBCS 1.12 * Origin: Glacier Peak Rainbow, Bellevue, WA - 206/644-8431 ------------------------------
