Simply purchase 27 256K chips (Intel 21256 or equivalent) and plug them into the memory board that is already in your system (take out the 64K chips first). Then set the DIP switch to ON-ON- OFF-ON. Plug everything back in and power-up. The screen should say that your memory size has changed to 896K. (I'm not 100% sure of the DIP settings - it's from memory; if you don't get 896K try different settings, but always leave switch 4 ON. Worst case scenario is 8 different settings to try). The 256K chips are running about $80 for 32, but check around. Installing them requires care that you do not damage them with static electricity. - --- Opus-CBCS 1.12 * Origin: Glacier Peak Rainbow, Bellevue, WA - 206/644-8431 ------------------------------ Date: 08-02-90 (22:09) To: JASON GABLER Subject: RAINBOW ADDITIONAL MEMORY From: ED RIDPATH If you have a Rainbow memory card with 64K chips in it, all you need to do is replace them with 256K chips. You will need to adjust the dip switch settings to accomodate the new chips. You don't need to get a new board.
