i am considering buyin g a 9600 bps modem; my impression is that
buying a 2400 bps is much simpler, but i don't know why..

what should i look for, what should i avoid? what should i pay?

i need a modem that will talk to any other modem down to 1200 bps
without gagging;  >9600 bps would be nice, but not essential.

any suggestions appreciated!
