I have an old (Oct. 1986) Intel OEM pre-production motherboard that I need
some help with.  Namely: it won't run 386 protected mode (anything that
multitasks, ie Windows, crashes the system.  80386 registers tested okay). 
By some rare miricle, would somebody happen to know how to fix this board? 
Or happen to be an Intel person who'd know how I can get it upgraded? 
(comp.sys.intel has yielded zilch). 

The numbers:
SBC 386 AT S, PBA 137406-001, BIOS V.99B (Oct. 6th 1986). 

I also have a 2 megabyte 32-bit RAM card for this board, which appears to
be working properly.. Intel lists the card at $1000+ (right!), I saw someone
on comp.sys.intel selling one for $325.. if you're interested, make me an
offer.  Perhaps it would subsidize the cost of a decent new 386SX motherboard.

(PS: I didn't realize this motherboard was pre-production when I bought
it.. if I had, I wouldn't have.  Intel Sales <Michigan> says it was for
developers only, and the devs were supposed to get them upgraded to
production boards later.. apparently this board belonged to a dev that
went under.  I'm being refused the help the dev would have received due
to lack of paperwork <wha?  It's clearly an Intel board, what more do they
want?!>.. methinks I'll move back to Motorola architechture with my next
computer..)
