My system does that when I let the NiCads go flat, which I do regularly so they won't get too lazy. Sometimes the machine has to be plugged in to the charger for a few minutes (with the power turned switch off) before it will wake up and boot. On mine it is usually on the order of 30 - 90 seconds.
