Message-ID: <1808@ac.dal.ca> Date: 27 Jul 90 19:31:11 GMT Lines: 11 Organisation: Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada We've got an external hard disk where I work which has had episodes of being very noisy. For the last few days the drive has been incredibly quiet. I thought that maybe the fan had stopped working, so I touched the case. The case is quite warm, so the fan has probably died. How serious is this? I've noticed that some external drives don't have fans. Do they run very warm, or do they have special designs which allow for cooling w/o fans? What is the prognosis for this drive? It's an Ehman 45 with a Seagate mechanism if it makes any difference. Thanks, Keith Keith@ac.dal.ca
