Is there any way I can make a startup screen for that? Also, I have saved what was on the screen with the command-shift- whatever f-key (3, maybe?). It saved the screen contents into a file, fine. I just can't read it! Is there any way to get any program to read what's in the file? John Feinberg SUNY Buffalo John, You have to know how to use Resedit to make a startupscreen for anything but the dinky SE monitor. Here are the steps: 1) take your picture, painting, whatever and copy it into the Scrapbook: this automatically converts it to PICT resource format. 2) Load Resedit, and using resedit, open the Scrapbook file located in your system folder. (Don't access the scrapbook from the apple menu!) 3) Open the resource PICT, and find the picture you want, and then COPY it. 4) Using NEW from the file menu, create a new file in your system folder called "StartupScreen." 5) PASTE the picture into the Startupscreen file. It should paste in as a PICT resource. 6) Open the PICT resource (you should be able to see your picture) and choose Get Info from file menu. 7) Change the ID number to 0 (zero). Close everything and save changes. Wallah! Startupscreen! If you have a color monitor, you can have a color picture for a startupscreen. Follow the same steps. But before I go, I'd like to give credit to Chris Johnson (author of Gatekeeper) for originally teaching me how to do this. Have fun! Jeff
