One is a 1/4" tape drive the the other is a Exabyte drive. The 1/4" drive has entries in the /dev directory of rst0, rst8, rst16, and rst24 (plus the non-rewinding ones). The Exabyte has rst1, rst9, rst17, and rst25. According to the man pages st(4) (for 1/4") the rst0 is QIC-11 and the rst8, rst16, and rst24 are all QIC-24. Is there any difference between the rst8, rst16, and rst24 entries? Where might I find this difference explained if in fact there is a difference? Likewise, what, if any difference is there between the 4 entries for the Exabyte drive, or do they all end up doing the same thing? Thanks for any help.
