I just got off the phone with ATI tech support.

I learned that the latest version of ROM's for the V3 card is
1.06 ( mine is V3m-1.05 ) running ati-info which came with
the card will tell this information about your current ROM version.

I also found out that we who own the version 3 card cannot upgrade
to the version 4 ROM's which means we cannot use the current 1024x768
driver that was released but we can use 800x600 driver. I was also
told that they will be writing 256 color drivers for the version 3 
card soon.

Before you run out and order the upgrade from 1.05 to 1.06 you might
want to know the only difference is a wider monitor selection.

Also the reason we can't use the 1024x768 driver is becAuse of different
method of memory mapping the version 4 ROMs use that the driver makes
use of.
