This signal is mixed with the incoming radar signal, which has the effect of creating a signal that is the sum of the two signals, and a signal that is the difference of the two signals. This LO signal would have to be pretty close to the X or K band. From what I remember about taking apart some detectors, is that most of them are poorly shielded/filtered.
