For those of you that criticize, don't be too quick to judge. What are you doing to advance the field? Apparently the project has a few more years left (I think it was 5+ years at least). BUT, according to Lenat, he is right on schedule. Lets give the guy his few years before we make our decisions on the usefullness of his project. I feel it is a worthwhile step. Regardless of his final results, his knowledge base will definately be invaluable in the years to come. For instance, using his knowledge base one could perhaps successfull or more realistically model a virtual reality. I too am hesitant to agree that Lenat will be successfull in creating a psuedo-sentinel computer but, who knows, only time will tell. Remember the opposition the Wright brothers met?
